Marco van Leeuwen was appointed professor on the special Chair for Historical Sociology at Utrecht University. This special James Coleman Chair was founded on behalf of the James Coleman Association. In 1990, Marco van Leeuwen defended his impressive dissertation (cum laude):

Public lecture Walter Powell (Stanford University) September 9 2010, Groningen
Thursday September 9 2010 the renowned Stanford University sociologist Walter Powell will come to the University of Groningen to participate in an expert workshop on professionalization in humanitarian organizations. Walter Powell is well-known for his work on institutional theory as well on networks and the non profit sector.
