Vidi grant for Rense Corten (ICS Utrecht)
The Vidi grant will enable Rense Corten to develop a line of research and set up a research group. His research will focus on the origins and consequences of trust in the sharing economy.
The sharing economy
Examples of the sharing economy are carpooling, Airbnb, websites where people borrow and lend items from and to one another, and crowdfunding. The sharing economy, therefore, is a socio-economic system in which people share things or services and collectively consume them. Corten will examine what conditions facilitate trust among strangers in such interactions in the sharing economy. He also aims to find out to what extent the sharing economy creates greater social cohesion.
