ICS lecture with Michael Macy: May 21, 2012

On May 21 and 22, 2012, Michael Macy will come to the Netherlands for a Masterclass for the ICS PhD students of yeargroup 2010.
On Monday May 21 Michael Macy will give a lecture for a broader audience, entitled:
'Footprints in the Sand: Social Science with Social Media.'

The lecture will be followed by a small social event with drinks.

Footprints in the Sand: Social Science with Social Media.


Prof. Macy has pioneered the field of computational sociology through the use of agent based computational models, and more recently, digital records ofhuman behavior and social interaction, which he refers to as "footprints in the sand." His lecture will develop themes introduced in a recent essay co-authored with Scott Golder, a graduate student in his lab at Cornell. The essay was waspublished in Footnotes, the newsletter of the American Sociological Association. The essay is reprinted here.
